They don't have to explicitly show you how the Saviours escaped. We may get told how exactly it happened later on, but all we have to know is that they did because of Eugene, and that they're out and about. The whole episode was focused on the counterattack from the Saviours, so spending time on how they escaped rather than dedicating that time to what they did once they were out would've been a poor move, imo.

Rick was in a separate car, we see him driving separate from Jerry.

Carl got bitten when he was helping Siddiq in the forest. That's why he was so accepting of dying and the idea of sacrificing himself in order to let everyone else escape. He even tells Negan that ''it's going to happen anyway'', so he's totally come to terms with it before they start attacking Alexandria.

This is a complete shift, and one that I'm despairing over emotionally, but I think it's a good move. The sheer scale of the ramifications it could have on so many different characters makes it a phenomenal occurence.

If time does skip forward after this, I wonder if Judith could take Carls place in whatever plotlines he was a part of? In the comics she dies at the prison so depending on how many years later it is she could be a cool teenager.
I wonder if Rick will choose to shelter her or involve her in the world though, after this loss who knows what he'll do.

Still kind of hoping they explore ways to help Carl, I can't for the life of me remember a time they got antiobiotics and other meds and tried they just assume it equals death.
Though this happened like a day ago maybe so perhaps it's too late anyway.

Hated Carl for the longest time and slowly came around to him after years, I guess like it or not he was still a big part of the series.

Brilliant acting all round, Andrew Lincoln especially as per usual, he didn't seem angry or sad so much as he did completely lost.

A good death for Carl anyway, he did what he wanted to do and said what he wanted to say and to and he even managed to end it the way he wanted.
I still think it's a bit odd that being a teenager he took it so well but I guess that's just reflective of how much the connections he made mattered to him.
If Carl didn't turn out like that but died anyway they'd have written themselves in to a hole for sure, Rick would be messed up forever.

The Morgan stuff I couldn't care less about, just feels pointless like they'll have to babysit him and he'll go nuts if not. Or maybe he'll take that kid under his wing and regain some normalcy through essentially having a son again.
Didn't get what was so special about him ripping that dudes intestines out, why were they all like "Woah, too far man"? it was a fight to the death, what was he meant to do...just die?

Is that just what Carl wants or is it foreshadowing of that eventuality?
I mean realistically I don't think they could afford to keep Jeffrey Dean Morgan around but that would be interesting.

I'm liking Dwight a lot, his story is pretty good, somehow I don't buy that he's willing to just get killed but he's a good character just hope he doesn't 100% flip on them, he clearly has elements of good in him but some moments of doubt would be appropriate.

Still can't tell wtf Eugene wants to do. If it comes down to it and the Alexandria side wins I'm sure he'd chicken out and just join them again but how in to it would he be? Can't see where his character would go, he's definitely not the sort to man up and go survive by himself.


That whole thing with Gabriel was just...dumb. Doctor guy gets wasted just to make him question his faith.

I knew that Negan wasn't killed in the comics so I was only half surprised, I thought the show was changing it and actually killed him.
Does that throat cutting happen in the comics? 'Cause damn, he was on the ground bleeding out for ages, I'm not so sure he should have survived that...

I do like the concept though, the way my boss said it I thought Rick secretly kept him captive but he's actually just a prisoner.
Interesting idea...gonna be hard to keep that up though, people are a*****, gonna run out of room to keep them all locked up...


I'm glad Eugene got punched in the face. That was a fairly cool twist but there should have been a "This is all we got, don't waste any ammo" line somewhere, I mean nobody tested their gun before that?

And now Maggie and Daryl are going to f*** things up. Daryl is getting annoying, he used to see reason now his character has a very "f*** it" attitude. It's like he needs a supportive Dale/Hershel character around to spout wise s***.
One way to justify killing your Golden Boy later down the line.

Yeah I was thinking he was definitely turning bad but he's a great liar so it makes sense he might pull that off, anything for self preservation.
But again along those lines maybe he figured Alexandria and co would win the fight so why bat for the losing side?
If he thought they might win then what Rosita said would become a reality, so might as well make yourself look like the good guy.

I didn't read the comics so it was a surprise for me to see that Negan was not killed. Putting him in a prison for the rest of his life is going to be a pain but I guess they are making an effort to return life to what it was before. I was a little shocked to see Daryl be a part of the people who are going to revolt but really shocked to see Jesus among them too. Its interesting to see that he believes that their is a problem.

I could have sworn that Rick gave up the majority of his "power" to Maggie but his battlefield decision made it clear that isn't so. It appears that Maggie is top dog of politics/governing and Rick is in charge of all things related to fighting/war. Once again, they're building a government but its going to take some time and need more structure and official rules before things can work as they plan.

I feel like Jesus isn't really in to her way of thinking, he's just aligned to Hilltop more than the others. I think he'll try to convince Maggie to keep it peaceful, it goes completely against his character to not do so.

He's not the sort of guy who'd refuse to help make Hilltop a better place but when it comes down to actually killing Negan I doubt he'd be okay with it.
Unless there's some backstory there we don't know about, maybe Jesus was wanting some revenge on Negan.


It'll be interesting to see how each settlement progresses, Maggie already has heavy experience in working on a farm so Hilltop has an advantage there...but then they also got that survival book...
Though would she really be that petty and hide it from Rick? It'd be hard to do that and advance things secretly.

Wonder what will happen when Maggie has her baby, maybe she'll have a change of heart...or what if it dies and she goes full on evil...
